This is the music video for the new song by David Bowie, his first in over a decade. It’s called Where Are We Now? and it’s a slow-paced, melancholic ballad.
The video is certainly as strange as we’ve come to expect from Bowie, with him and some random woman taking the form of puppets sitting in front of a television screen showing grainy old footage.
As for the meaning behind the lyrics, some people are suggesting this is Bowie looking back on better days, Where Are We Now? is all about Berlin, the same city where Heroes was recorded.
What’s clear is that Bowie is older and wiser but still wants to surprise people. Not many people were expecting a new single anytime soon, so I guess on that score at least he’s already succeeded.
