Meet Tarra the African elephant and Bella the dog. These animals are from entirely different worlds, but at the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee, they’ve become the best of friends.
The unlikely duo has been friends for years, but their bond was tested when Bella suffered a spinal cord injury. The dog was unable to come out and romp as she always did, so her pachyderm playmate held vigil awaiting her return.
My favorite part of this video is watching Tarra pet her friend’s tummy with that enormous elephant-sized foot. Now that’s trust!
As the voiceover says: if animals so unlike can become so close, why do us humans seem to have such problems overcoming our differences?
