If you haven’t seen Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog yet then you are missing out. It’s a 42 minute movie/Web series written by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and starring Neil Patrick Harris as an aspiring comic book-style supervillain.
Patric Harris also hosted the 2009 Emmys so what could be better than a mash-up of the two? Dr. Horrible interrupted the 2009 Emmys to pronounce that television is dead and the Internet is now king.
Dr. Horrible’s plan to take over the Emmys failed when his arch nemesis Captain Hammer turns up to save the day. But not before Dr. Horrible had decryed corporate entertainment and the TV industry as a whole.
Bizarrely, despite Dr. Horrible’s rant, the Sing-Along Blog won the Emmy for Outstanding Special Class – Short-format Live-Action Entertainment Programs. So maybe there’s something in this Web television lark after all.
