There’s a new film out called Boy Erased. It tells the story of a teenage boy who realizes he’s gay, much to the horror of his religious parents.
They send him to gay conversion therapy, where gay people can supposedly be turned straight. This is obviously bunkum, but such places still exist to this day.
Boy Erased is based on a true story, with Garrard Conley having written a book based on his experiences as a teenager growing up in the Deep South.
As well as being entertaining, this film will hopefully educate people as to the problem with religious beliefs that exclude the people you love from being themselves.
