Well known YouTuber Jenna Marbles has quit YouTube after she received some backlash for some of her older videos.
The videos in question show Marbles, whose real name is Jenna Mourey, donning blackface to impersonate Nicki Minaj, making a joke at the expense of Asian people, and making a reference to women who sleep around.
This video shows Marbles apologizing for the transgressions, and quitting YouTube. However, I suspect she’ll be back once everything has calmed down.
This is the latest example of the cancel culture which is sweeping across the internet. And it means that if you’re a. famous and b. have done anything in the past which could be considered offensive in 2020, you could be next.
