Dude, Where’s My Car vs The Hangover Video | Even Hollywood Suffers From Plagiarism

34 sec read

The Hangover has so far been the surprise hit of 2009. A middle-aged frat boy comedy, it has managed to hold its own alongside summer blockbusters such as Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

There is, however, just one problem. The Hangover is so similar to Dude, Where’s My Car that it’s actually scary. It seems plagiarism is alive and well in Hollywood as it is everywhere else.

As this CollegeHumor video shows, both movies deal with the morning after the night before, involve searching for something, a gang after you for something or other, a washed-up celebrity, and a happy ending.

OK, so there are some huge differences between the two films, but none so huge as to not be fixed by a nice bit of editing. Having seen both The Hangover and Dude, Where’s My Car, I can confirm the biggest difference being that one is funny, the other is not. But I’ll let you decide which is which.
