It’s been 30 years since Tootsie was released, and in the time that has passed since many people have commented on Dustin Hoffman’s transformation into a woman.
The comments are usually negative and a little harsh, but his lack of beauty as a female character turns out to have had quite the effect on Hoffman.
This video shows the legendary actor getting tearful as he recalls the moment he discovered how he would look as a female. It made him realize men make judgements on women purely based on looks.
To be fair I think times have changed since then, and men are much more likely to see people for who they really are, despite their gender or how they look on the outside. At least I hope that’s the case.
