British pop star Elton John and his civil partner David Furnish became parents on Christmas Day, with a baby boy arriving through a surrogate mother in California.
Elton John is known to have been keen to have kids for a while now, having tried to adopt a Ukrainian orphan in 2009. He and Furnish were rejected on the grounds of their relationship status and age.
The new baby has been named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, which isn’t a great name to have been lumped with, if you ask me.
I have no problem with gay couples adopting children, but John’s age is of more concern. At 63-years-old, he’s not exactly a young man any more. Still, he is a multi-millionaire so this is one kid who’ll never want for anything, even if John pegged it.
So, good luck to them. That’s what I say.
