Eminem’s new album, Recovery, is officially released on June 22, but, as with every rap album these days, it’s leaked to the Internet early.
While that’s obviously disappointing for Marshall Mathers, it does at least mean we get to hear some reviews of the album well in advance of it coming out.
So, is Slim Shady back to his best?
Although a lot of people enjoyed Eminem’s last album, Relapse, many thought it was just a little too jokey and light-hearted. With the combative, serious style of his first two albums lost.
Thankfully, Eminem seems to have listened to the criticism and returned to his former self. Which means that while Recovery still has the clever and witty lyrics, they’re wrapped up in songs which are much stronger and direct.
This is a nice little review of the album, but I had to draw attention to the sad piece of self-marketing at the beginning. No, we don’t want your album or your “No You Aint” t-shirts.” But thanks for the offer.
