Jodie Foster was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globes, and to celebrate the win she gave an impassioned, emotional speech shown in full in the video embedded above.
That’s one interpretation at least. Another is that she spoke in a very stream-of-consciousness style without actually saying anything of particular note.
The problem is she seemed to hint at a couple of things without actually saying the words. You could infer she’s gay and came out years ago to those who mattered. And that she’s retiring from making films. But she’s left both open to questioning.
I’m not a fan of people talking in riddles. If she had something to say then why didn’t she just say it. Or not show up to accept the award in the first place to preserve the privacy she holds so dear.
