If you have seen the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony you will have seen Eric Idle from Monty Python performing Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. It was easily the highlight of the whole show.
Just like with Mr. Bean in the opening ceremony the diversion into a comedy skit worked well. Idle performed well, as did all the other people who sang and danced around him.
The song, for those who don’t know, is Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. This was originally the closing ditty from The Life Of Brian but it has taken on a life of its own.
This video shows Idle performing Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Not The Messiah. It includes the original lyrics, which are slightly different than those sung during the Olympics.
