Fainting Goat Kittens Video | Two Young Cats With Myotonia Congenita – Rare Phenomenon

29 sec read

You won’t know whether to laugh, cry, feel a little freaked out, or feel pity while watching this video. If I’m honest I experienced a little of everything.

This video shows two kittens (Charlie and Spike) suffering from Myotonia Congenita, otherwise known as ‘fainting goat syndrome’. It’s a condition that is usually found in goats and rarely in cats, hence the name.

It’s a strange and rare condition which means the animals collapse upon hearing the slightest noise. Once down they enter a rigid paralysis that lasts for around a minute before getting up and carrying on as if nothing had happened.

It’s a very bizarre sight which is, let’s face it, mildly amusing. But it’s also very sad that any creature has to suffer like this, especially cute kittens who are the epitome of innocence.
