Today is 4/20, a significant date not just for being the anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings but for also being the main date celebrating cannabis culture. If you hear anyone shouting 420, that’s why. And if you smell something funny in someone’s cigarette today, that’s also why.
In order to celebrate this day, the latest episode of Family Guy, always a show which captures the zeitgeist of the day, includes a song called Bag O’ Weed. Sung by Stewie and Brian it is sure to cause controversy. But it’s very funny.
I’m amazed this got past the American television censors but it did, and aired in full. Not only does it show a baby and a talking dog extolling the virtues of smoking marijuana, it also takes the piss out of various celebrities and famous people.
Whether you believe cannabis should be legalized or not – I personally think it should as it’s probably less harmful than either tobacco or alcohol – you have to admit this song is brilliant. If not then you need a sense of humor bypass.
