As you may have already heard by now, Felix Baumgartner has completed his sky dive from the edge of space. And broken several records in the process.
Baumgartner, an accomplished skydiver and unashamed daredevil, jumped from an altitude of 28,100 feet (39,045 meters), making this the highest parachute jump of all time.
On his way down to Earth he broke another record, becoming the first skydiver to break the sound barrier. He managed to hit 833.9 mph (1342.8 km/h) or Mach 1.24 before deploying his parachute.
Baumgartner’s startling achievement occurred 65 years to the day after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier in his Bell X-1 rocket plane.
