Last year I posted about the Wilhelm Scream, a brilliant if slightly unrealistic sound effect that was massive in the 70s and 80s.
But this old recycled sound effect has fallen out of favor in recent years, and it’s frankly a shame. This video shows you how some of our favorite Hollywood blockbusters could have benefited from the Wilhelm Scream.
I particularly love the en masse screaming from Titanic and its dramatic use in Gladiator.
Maybe this video will convince movie makers to bring the Wilhelm Scream back. It sounds like a pretty effective way to trim film budgets to me!
