The Final Fantasy series of games is one of the longest running and most popular of all time. And with good reason, because each game is very different while being familiar, addictive, brilliantly realized, and highly playable.
Final Fantasy fans have had a little while to wait between home console releases, but there’s now two on the horizon. Final Fantasy XIII which is a traditional type of adventure, and Final Fantasy XIV, a MMORPG.
This video shows the new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV, first revealed by Square Enix during the 2009 Tokyo Game Show currently taking place in Japan.
As is usual for Final Fantasy trailers, rather than gameplay footage it’s all CGI. But this trailer does reveal more of the people, places, monsters, and storyline than the previous one.
I cannot wait for this game as it’ll be the first Final Fantasy I’ll have been able to take online. It’s due out sometime in 2010 on the PS3, with versions for the Xbox 360 and PC to follow later.
