I’ve been a fan of Star Trek since Jean-Luc Picard (played by the excellent Patrick Stewart) brought the series up-to-date with The Next Generation. However, I never got into The Original Series starring Captain Kirk et al.
Luckily, I now don’t have to bother going back and watching the classic episodes because J.J. Abrams (the main man behind Lost) is revisiting the series origins, Kirk, Spock, Scotty and all, in a new movie out in May.
This is the final trailer for the film, and it shows a young Captain Kirk, now played by Chris Pine, a young Spock, played by the excellent Zachary Quinto from Heroes, and a young Sulu, played by John Cho of Harold and Kumar fame.
I can’t wait for this movie to be released. The action has been ramped up, and the casting looks excellent. It’s a bit of a shame that William Shatner isn’t involved at all. Surely he could have been given a cameo somewhere?
