I find octopi creepy enough when they’re swimming about and doing their thing in the sea. But when they come out of the water and start walking around they really freak me out.
This is an amazing video showing an octopus climbing out of the water and walking around on land for a while. The onlookers are stunned, except for the snotty kid at the end who just wants her turn on the camera.
The octopus appears to have emerged from the water to crap out the remains of a crab it had just finished off. Which is nice. But I didn’t know they could do this.
This is evolution in action. In a few hundred thousand years this little fellow will probably be amphibian, able to live freely both in and out of the water. Sure, it looks like the alien that broke free from John Hurt’s stomach, but it’s still impressive.
