Funny Beer Commercial | Carlton Draught’s Big Ad

29 sec read

This Australian beer ad is a wonderful parody of advertising and marketing schemes. It also pokes fun at battle sequences that are typical of epic movies today like Lord of the Rings and 300.

It shouldn’t be surprising to know that the ad was filmed in New Zealand, which is probably why it’s so reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings. The director of photography, incidentally, also worked on The Lord of the Rings.

The ad shows two armies in a valley, marching towards each other and chanting. These chants are set to “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana by Carl Off, a tune that is rather conducive to melodrama. Not to worry though, as the modified lyrics ease this melodrama.

The ad is nicely done, and is great for a laugh. I sincerely hope that it sold them some “bloooody beer!”
