Happy Festivus, everybody! Today is Dec. 23, which means it’s Festivus. If you don’t know what Festivus is, then watch the video embedded above before reading on after the break.

Festivus is a secular holiday that has grown massively in popularity ever since it featured on an episode of Seinfeld back in 1997.

Screenwriter Dan O’Keefe introduced the wider world to Festivus, as it was a family tradition for him as a youngster.

The Festivus for the rest of us features several key components, including the ‘Airing of Grievances’, the ‘Feats of Strength’, and ‘Festivus Miracles’, which aren’t miracles at all.

The centerpiece of any Festivus celebration is the unadorned aluminium pole. Which is the perfect representation of anti-commercial sentiment.
