The new live-action Aladdin film is now out in theaters, and it’s fair to say it isn’t getting very good reviews.
The problem is that no one asked for Aladdin to be remade. The original animated version is brilliant, and didn’t need meddling with.
This video imagines what the pitch meeting for the live-action Aladdin remake would have looked like. And it nails the problems with the movie brilliantly.
I can understand Disney wanting to remake its biggest films, but they should only do so when the original loses its appeal. And that simply isn’t the case with Aladdin.
