You can always trust Monty Python to turn an otherwise somewhat boring history lesson into a strange but funny musical number.
If you didn’t quite catch it, Oliver Cromwell as a man who had a fairly cushy upbringing and was later forced into soldiering – proving his surprising aptitude in certain areas – in the 1642 civil war.
See? Wasn’t it much more fun to listen to the song than to read all that?
According to Suite 101, “Cromwell died on 3rd September 1658 in London. After the Restoration, his body was dug up and hanged.”
