U.S. citizens were shocked earlier this week when they received a “Presidential Alert” on their phones. Because pretty much everyone got the same message.
While people are used to receiving weather alerts and amber alerts on their phones, they can opt out of those. But no is allowed to opt out of presidential alerts.
The idea of this system is to alert all citizens in case of major emergency. This could be a terrorist attack or a full-scale invasion.
