Today is December 23rd, which means just one thing… Happy Festivus!
What do you mean you have never heard of it?! Festivus is the secular holiday for the rest of us, a counter to both the religious and commercial aspects of Christmas.
This video explains it all, showing the full story of Festivus, which, if you hadn’t guessed it by now, originated on Seinfeld, with George’s dad inventing this new holiday.
In reality, Festivus was a family tradition of Dan O’Keefe, one of the scriptwriters on Seinfeld. It involves the Airing of Grievances, the Feat of Strengths, and an aluminum pole instead of a tree.
