Futurama was/is one of the best animated comedy series I have ever seen. But because of a supposed lack of viewers, the show got canned in 2003. It may not be as good as Family Guy but it’s still brilliant none the less.
The series by The Simpsons creator Matt Groening follows the exploits of former pizza delivery boy Fry after he is cryogenically frozen in the year 2000, only to be revived 1000 years later.
He’s not the best character though, with Bender the alcoholic robot taking most of the plaudits and a firm fan favourite. He’s the one featured in this YouTube video which is a preview of the new episodes.
Now, four years after the show was given the bullet, it’s back. First with straight to DVD films, starting with one titled Futurama: Bender’s Big Score.
These films will then will divided into four episodes each to be aired on Comedy Central, alongside all of the existing episodes.
I’m really glad the show is back, and hope they carry on making new episodes. But first I need a television company in the UK to pick up the rights … or I’ll be gutted!
