While the world is mourning Michael Jackson, it’s interesting to note that almost a year to the day earlier, we lost the brilliant George Carlin. Here we remember them both with George’s views on the King of Pop.
What I loved most about George was his complete and utter honesty, no matter how controversial that might be. Disparaging musical “greats” like Elvis Presley, Sammy Davis Jr., and Frank Sinatra probably seemed scandalous when he made these comments. Yet today, as we live in a world without Michael Jackson his views make a lot of sense.
I’m pretty confident that we’ll speak of Michael Jackson and his musical legacy with the same reverence those icons of yesteryear receive before too long.
