Gil Scott-Heron – ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’ Video In Honor Of His Passing

This is Gil Scott-Heron performing The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, probably his most well-known work. Unfortunately the only reason I’m posting the video of it is because he has passed away in New York at the age of 62.

Until today I’d never really taken any notice of Gil Scott-Heron. I’d heard the name mentioned multiple times, and have heard many his words and phrases quoted over the years, but as for his body of work I was in the dark.

As is so often the case someone’s true genius is never appreciated until after they pass away. And although Scott-Heron had fans and followers in life I suspect he and his art will have many more in death.
