Glen Campbell has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 75. He is thought to be planning one more tour, as a kind of farewell and thank you to his fans, before retiring from showbusiness.
Rather than posting a video showing Campbell as an old man, or a sober report into the diagnosing of his illness, I thought it would be better to see and hear him in his prime. And Rhinestone Cowboy does just that.
It should be noted that this is one of the campest music videos of all time, and Glen Campbell looks like a gay cowboy once he dons his white rhinestone outfit.
It’s also from the days when music videos aren’t the lavish productions they are now, so there isn’t really much more to it than Campbell singing to camera. It’s still an absolute classic though.
