Oh dear. Green Hornet is getting some bad reviews, including this one by What The Flick?! Still, millions will still go and see it, at least on this, its opening weekend.
The criticisms of Green Hornet are many: Too many characters, too quick into the back story, a crappy plot, average special effects, a disappointing ending, the setting up of sequels rather than focusing just on delivering a great film.
Green Lantern isn’t the first to fall victim to this, but you’d think they’d have learned in the wake of Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight, which has changed the way comic book movies are delivered.
It’s as though Warner Bros has specified that it wants a franchise rather than a good movie. It wants the ability to sell merchandise and build a huge brand around the characters. Unfortunately that has left the movie severely wanting.
