Ricky Hatton has been flying the flag for British boxing for many years now. But yesterday he met his match in the form of Manny Pacquiao. The fight between the two only last two rounds before Pacquiao took Hatton down and possibly out.
There was a huge crowd present at the MGM Grand and many more watching on PPV television. Pacquiao dominated the fight from the off, knocking Hatton down twice in the first round.
At the end of the second round, Pacquiao delivered a devastating left hook which saw Hatton go down like a sack of spuds. He hit the canvas and didn’t look like he’d ever get up, and Pacquiao was declared the winner.
Hatton was taken to hospital for a brain scan which he thankfully passed with flying colors. He now has to decide whether to retire gracefully or attempt a comeback. After a scare like that I’d prefer he chose the first option.
