This glorious video shows that nature, as well as being a cruel and fickle beast, can also be spectacularly gorgeous, as we see the planet we live on rise and fall behind the Moon.
This high definition footage of an Earthrise and an Earthset was taken by a camera on board the Japanese Kaguya probe as it orbited the Moon at a distance of about 100 kilometres.
The Kaguya is part of a new detailed lunar mapping project, the first since the American Apollo missions in the Sixties, but we also get awesome video footage like this as a by-product.
Putting the footage together with Louis Armstrong’s classic What A Wonderful World is brilliance itself, as it just completely fits the images you are seeing on screen.
