This video shows Charles Coventry’s record-breaking one day international cricket innings of 194 not out. Coventry is a Zimbabwean cricketer and scored his record innings against Bangladesh in 2009.
However, Coventry’s record has now been beaten by Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He has surpassed 200 not out in the game against South Africa.
Coventry’s innings was full of lucky escapes, but then that is the nature of one day internationals. With only a limited number of overs to score from, batsmen have to take risks, and it’s up to the fielding side to take advantage of those.
Tendulkar may have now beaten Coventry’s record, which he shared with Saeed Anwar, but that doesn’t make this innings any less thrilling to watch unfold, partly because of the number of missed chances for getting him out.
