Obama may not have any military experience, but he sure knows how to uphold a strong presence and a cool head in the face of controversy. Judging by the above clip that highlights a few key points from his speech, you’d never have guessed that 20 or so protesters were arrested and that he was interrupted by 4 hecklers.

Surely, this speech at Notre Dame was about more than receiving an honorary degree.

In regards to the honorary degree that Arizona State University refused him, Obama joked, “I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but these honorary degrees are apparently pretty hard to come by. So far I’m only one for two.”

Interruptions

Here we have one of the four interruptions that supposedly occurred during the speech. After the man started shouting, many people in the crowd booed in disapproval and he was was escorted out within seconds.

Protestors

Notre Dame is, as you might already know, America’s leading Roman Catholic university. So when conservative activists and protesters started demonstrating in the streets, it really didn’t come as a surprise. However, Alan Keys and a few others crossed into the campus’s private property and were arrested by police.

But pro-life protesters weren’t the only ones on the streets. If you pay attention to the end of the clip, Obama supporters can be seen holding up signs like “Students Support Planned Parenthood” and “Welcome President Obama.”
