As of right now, “3D” movies currently being released are causing problems (headaches, eye strains) among a significant amount of users- so much so that there have been statements issued that warn parents to not show 3D movies to their children.
One company is ahead of the curve and developing truly 3d projected technology which can be backwards compatible with all the film that is out now. The prototype looks promising to say the least.
I’m not a huge fan of 3D movies simply because they are a pain in the ass to buy, see, and experience with special glasses. Sure, every once in a while I’ll splurge and buy a 3D movie ticket, but I’m never really blown away by the technology and end up getting a headache.
I’m sure this technology would fix all of these problems, but is the market for 3D holograms really there? If they put this in a smartphone-sized screen would people even use it?
