W.C. Fields once famously said you should never work with animals or small children. Perhaps Mark Carwadine, of the BBC’s nature series Last Chance to See, should have taken his advice!
Mark and his offsider Stephen Fry are enthralled when they spot a rare kakapo parrot. But their joy quickly turns to bemusement, for Stephen, and horror, for Mark! The kakapo, nicknamed Sirocco, takes a shine to Mark and promptly mounts his head!
All that enthusiastic flapping looks impressive, but it’s not so pleasant to be on the receiving end. Mark comes off a little worse for wear, with a few deep bloody scratches!
But the question still remains. Will a chick result from this joyous union?
