Tragedy struck on the first day of the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday when a ride called the Fireball broke apart. One person has died, and seven others have been injured.
This video shows the immediate aftermath of the accident, with parts of the ride sitting on the concrete, and riders shaken up.
The people who died or were injured were reportedly catapulted out of the Fireball, flying through the air for 20 feet before landing on bare concrete.
This sort of incident is enough to put you off fairground rides for life. However, while it’s tragic for those involved it’s important to remember how rarely this sort of thing happens.
