The D-Day landings were one of the pinnacles of human endeavour, the time when the Allied forces bravely faced down the Nazis and took Europe back to democracy.
There were thousands of men involved and the whole exercise was a bloody and brutal battle which resulted in the deaths of many British and American soldiers.
So surely recreating such a huge battle must be a tall order, and the sole domain of Hollywood movie-makers who have a huge monetary budget at their disposal.
