Another day, another tablet. Can the HP TouchPad from Hewlett-Packard compete with the Apple iPad any more successfully than all the other tablets that have so far tried and failed to?
The HP TouchPad is the same size and shape as the Apple iPad, because why change what seems to be working with consumers, but unfortunately it doesn’t have the same feel or build quality as the Apple tablet.
The biggest problem for the TouchPad, however, is the lack of apps available for it at this stage. While there are hundreds of thousands for the iPad, until the TouchPad sells in greater numbers it’s lacking that kind of range.
Whether you love or hate Apple, you have to take your hat off to the company for planning ahead and creating its own market. It means everyone else is immediately on the back foot and playing catch-up.
