The self-titled Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova has caused controversy by making comments which could easily be construed as racist in tone.
The Russian interviewer clearly felt they were offensive, describing Lukyanova as “a racist space alien” as a result of their meeting.
Speaking to GQ Russia, the Human Barbie suggested that cosmetic surgery is gaining in popularity “because of the race-mixing. Ethnicities are mixing now, so there’s degeneration, and it didn’t used to be like that.”
Not only is she wrong in a purely scientific sense — the mixing of the races is good for genetics — but she’s also wrong if she thinks people of mixed race aren’t beautiful. She, on the other hand, is far from it.
