This video preview of the new Droid Bionic, manufactured by Motorola and on Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network, is from CES 2011 way back in January. And still we’re waiting for the handset to arrive.
The Droid Bionic is now one of the most delayed phones of this generation, and no one seems all that sure as to the reason behind it. Release dates have come and gone and the current schedule just says ‘Summer’.
The problem with smartphones at the moment is that they’re becoming smarter by the week, with faster processors and more features included on new models. So any delay means the hardware risks being out-of-date by the time it’s released.
The Droid bionic looks very impressive, with specs to die for. But for how long? Will people actually bother waiting while Motorola and Verizon get their acts together? I’m not convinced. This could just be vaporware.
