Instead of using steam, these saunas use infared rays. Apparently, just 30 minutes in one of these babies can cause you to burn 900 calories and “is equivalent to running 2-3 miles.”
Then again, the people making these claims also happen to run the WestCoast Saunas company.
At first, I had my doubts that infared rays and lower temperature settings could have such extreme health benefits. But after a bit of digging, I found out that there was study in the Netherlands which proved using the saunas for a month benefited patients with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
Since water molecules vibrate at 9.4 micrometers and infared rays have been scientifically proven to have corresponding wavelengths, it isn’t hard to see why chiropractors are using the product. The $2000 price tag seems well worth it.
Now that I think about it, I never really liked traditional saunas anyways.
