March 8 is International Women’s Day. This is a day to celebrate womankind, as well as raise awareness of issues affecting women to this day.
International Women’s Day was started in 1909, and has since been formally recognized by the United Nations. And it’s observed by men and women around the world.
Things have improved greatly since 1909, when women in most countries didn’t even have the right to vote. However, most people would agree that there’s still work to be done.
And before anyone asks, yes, there is also an International Men’s Day. It’s held on November 19, and is designed to raise awareness of issues affecting men.
