A new drama series called Gracepoint premiered on Fox last night (Thursday, Oct. 2). It’s a police procedural that is essentially a remake of British television hit Broadchurch. The story is the same, David Tennant is the same, it’s just his partner and the locations that have changed.
Gracepoint has got mixed reviews so far. Not that you would know so from this video, which sees Fox carefully pick out fans of the show.
American remakes of foreign television shows and films obviously aren’t new. However, they’re now being made so soon after the originals debut that you wonder why people can’t just watch those and avoid the need for a remake in the first place.
Hell, Broadchurch didn’t even require subtitles, so there really is no excuse.
