Jim Marshall may not have been a household name, but his amps can be seen throughout musical history. He has certainly left an impressive legacy.
If you’re into rock music in any big way, whether in a band yourself or just a fan of the music, you will have heard of Marshall Amps. These are the amps which deliver the rock sound and have been for the past 50 years.
Jim Marshall, the guy behind the company, whose surname adorns each and every Marshall amp, has sadly passed away at the age of 88 after battling cancer and a series of strokes.
This video gives a very brief synopsis of Marshall’s life, from working with The Who and Jimi Hendrix right through to modern musicians. Marshall will be remembered as the ‘Lord of Loud’. Which is a pretty cool moniker to have.
