The Promise is a new film set during the 1910s, and depicting the events of the Armenian Genocide in which 1.5 million people lost their lives.
Unfortunately, The Promise muddies the waters by tying these momentous and historically important events into a love triangle between two men and one woman.
The Promise stars Oscar Isaac and Christian Bale as the two characters vying for the love and attention of Charlotte Le Bon. They’re all great actors, admittedly.
This film is garnering mixed reviews. If you like world-changing events reduced down to a love triangle then go see it, but if you want to learn more about the Armenian Genocide look elsewhere.
