At WWDC 2009, Apple’s annual developer’s conference, a new iPhone was unveiled. It’s called the iPhone 3G S and is the third iteration of the device so far. The S stands for ‘Speed’ but there’s more to the upgrade than just being faster than its predecessors.
This video is an official tour of the new iPhone 3G S from Apple. It tells us what’s new, what’s improved, and how the new model differentiates from both the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G.
The battery life has been improved, and both the speed of opening apps and browsing the Web have been improved. The quality of the camera and the features it has built-in have also been improved massively, including an auto-focus capability.
The iPhone 3G S also allows for video to be shot, in 30 FPS. Afterwards you can even edit the clips sing the iPhone itself. Voice control has also been added, meaning you can not only dial people’s number by speaking into the handset but also browse your music by doing the same.
The iPhone 3G S looks to be a great gadget and is clearly superior to the iPhone models which have come before. However, the list of improvements and features could have been longer so I do wonder whether Apple is running out of ideas.
