J.K. Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe have clashed in a row over the language around transexuals.
Rowling has been accused of being transphobic for suggesting “women” is still an appropriate word to use. While Radcliffe has retaliated by stating that trans women are women.
This is all much ado about nothing, really. I don’t believe J.K. Rowling is transphobic. Instead, she’s merely concerned that the language used risks writing cisgender women out of the picture.
Radcliffe, meanwhile, is completely 100 percent of the opinion that trans women are women, and so Rowling shouldn’t be the least bit concerned about the language used to describe them.
