Dyson announced the launch of its new product range earlier this week. Called the Air Multiplier Fan, it’s a new design on the classic desktop fan, which is bladeless thanks to some clever use of physics and engineering.
We’ve already seen a selection of people reacting to the alien looking device and wondering how it works. Now, James Dyson himself explains how it works and why it’s an improvement on the fans of old. Oh, and he also talks about joining the Conservative party.
I’m not a big fan of Dyson himself but his products are quite brilliant. And the Air Multiplier Fan looks to be no exception, taking a product that hasn’t been redesigned for decades and completely reinventing it.
Some of the science behind it is beyond my understanding but the upshot is a gentle and continuous breeze directed in a room. Which sounds brilliant on a hot day. Not that I’ll be buying one though because they are a little overpriced at $300.
