Saturday Night Live, or SNL as lazy people call it, is an American institution, having run for over 30 years. Although it’s mostly topical, some of the old clips are still very funny to this day, as this classic clip shows.
It stars Jan Hooks, who was a cast member between 1986 and 1991, alongside Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman. She has the rather dubious honor of singing to a monkey, which if I’m not mistaken, is the same one that ended up starring in Friends.
The song is short but brilliant, with Hooks explaining to the monkey that she isn’t evolved from him and his kind because she is evolved from Jesus. Not only that, but even the monkey comes from God. So there, it must be true.
Saturday Night Live has got a little more polished these days, and a bit more risqué with it. But that doesn’t mean the classic skits and songs aren’t still very watchable.
