While Keith Urban and the Dixie Chicks are doing their best to modernize country music, Canadian Idol’s Jaydee Bixbee is much happier being stuck in a time warp. The cutie pie 16-year-old zoomed into the talent quest top 10 without ever singing a modern song.
This week he set girls’ hearts a-flutter with his take on Conway Twitty’s “It’s Only Make-Believe.” Watching the angelic-looking teen perform, it’s very easy to forget that it’s 2007.
Critics have sworn he’ll never stay in the competition while he refuses to get with the times. Yet, Jaydee continues to defy the odds and sail through each round.
He may not be the next Canadian Idol, but I don’t think that matters. I hear some big-time record producers are waiting for him in Nashville.
